Content Writer

April Six San Francisco are currently seeking a savvy, technology-aware Content Writer to energize our expanding content practice. In this important senior role, you will help us deliver sharp, relevant content on behalf of some of the world’s leading technology brands—including Cisco, Microsoft, AWS, and HP. We are bringing curiosity and a journalistic focus to our clients’ marketing, social and communications challenges. Do you enjoy creating stories that spark ongoing conversations? Can you identify the many ways content can engage buyers and influencers across social platforms and beyond? Are you comfortable working alongside strategists and designers, and partnering with globally integrated client-services teams and clients? If so, this is the role for you.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ability to convey brand stories and a design sensibility to envision how content will be presented as infographics or interactive experiences
  • Facilitate discovery sessions with brands to understand their goals, guidelines and resources related to their editorial efforts
  • Strategize, research, and develop content to support brand and campaign messages
  • Report and compose content for clients’ owned properties (social, blog, video) and paid content
  • Consider the catalogue of licensed and original content options, and relate them to client needs
  • Maintain knowledge on the current trends in social media, journalism, advertising and marketing to continually evolve our practice and approach
  • Conduct content audits (qualitative analyses of all the content on a network of sites and social media accounts) as well as gap analyses
  • Develop editorial calendars; style guides; content taxonomies; metadata frameworks and content migration plans

Background and experience required:

  • Bachelor’s and/or Advanced Degree in Communications, Journalism or related field
  • 3-7 years of real-world expertise as a practicing journalist, editor, and/or technology writer
  • Extensive researching, interviewing, writing, and editing skill-set
  • Experience working in an integrated or digital agency preferred but not required
  • A firm understanding of project lifecycles, user experience (UI), search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM)
  • Well-versed at gathering key business and user insights, and applying strategic planning skills to create a long-term vision for content
  • Extensive project-management skills to help keep assignments on track and within budget
  • Solid grasp of digital analytics and the use of data to improve engagement and response rates
